Clara Barton Chapter supports and participates in numerous DAR projects

Units Overseas:  We were the first chapter to become a sister chapter with a Units Overseas chapter, the New Caledonia Chapter in British Columbia, Canada.  Several of our members continue to be associate members of that chapter as well as the Bahamas, Palatinate, and Mexico chapters.

Scholarships:  For many years the chapter has given a scholarship to a deserving nursing student at Golden West College in Huntington Beach.  In addition, contributions have been made to the DAR Scholarship fund.

Constitution Week:  Every year we obtain proclamations from the cities of Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, and Westminster and distribute DAR Constitution Week posters to the Huntington Beach Library and the local schools.

DAR Schools:  We collect Campbell Soup labels for the benefit of DAR schools; send clothes to the DAR schools; and make monetary donations to the children of the Tamassee Pouch Cottage each year for Christmas gifts.

DAR Service for Veterans:  We currently hold a Bingo and Pizza day at the VA Hospital three times each year.

DAR Library:  In addition to monetary contributions to the DAR Library, we also donated seventeen books including the Hall Family Genealogy, prepared by the three Hall sisters in our chapter.  Four of our members have served as California state library docents.

JROTC:  We present NSDAR Bronze Medals, certificates, and in recent years scholarships, to three outstanding high school students annually.

DAR Good Citizens:  Since 1994 we have presented many DAR Good Citizens awards.  We honor DAR Good Citizens with pins, certificates, and scholarships to those entering the essay contest.

DAR Project Patriot:  In addition to monetary donations, the chapter sends phone cards, greeting cards, and hand-knitted beanies to military personnel overseas.
